My name is Kaila Parker. I am a wife, a foster mom, a dietitian, a car seat tech, and so much more. I am in the process of minimizing my(our) “things” so I(we) can maximize life. We want our lives to be about our experiences, as a couple, as a family, as individuals, and as part of a greater community of people.
I am here to share my nutrition knowledge and my life, how I feed my family on the healthy days and the not so healthy days. Some things will be science-based and others based on opinions. Mostly I will post about food and nutrition, meals, and grocery shopping, but there will be the occasional post about my family, too.
I have an amazing husband, who is a college student(for now). He is sweet, smart, and funny, and he is an amazing musician. One of my favorite things to do is listen to him play music, originals that he wrote (https://www.thunderthievesmusic.com/music), or covers of other people’s songs. He is the grill master around our house, so if you see grilled foods on the blog, he is the one who probably cooked it.
I love being a foster mom, we are on our 3rd placement(at the moment). We have three wild and crazy, super fun, sweet kids, who we love dearly. We have sent our previous kids back home to first moms and are focused on enjoying these 3 for the time that we have with them. We don’t have biological children at the moment, maybe we will, who knows.
We do have two fur children, Macie and Pickle. Macie is mostly dog and loves to be petted. She is getting older and mostly just lies around. Pickle is a little more human (at least she thinks so), and she is a brat. I am pretty sure she understands a lot of what we say, and she gets pretty mad when we leave her at home too much.
My long term professional goals are to open a private nutrition counseling practice with a variety of services AND to open a nature based preschool/outdoor learning center, with minimal planned curriculum and kids who spend most of the day outside.
I am loving the life that we have, but look forward to a home that is perfect for lots of kids and for hosting gatherings, and to being able to travel!
